Petronas builds 5 preschools in Penan areas

KUCHING: Four community-based preschools have been built and one is currently under construction in the Apoh/Tutoh Penan areas in Baram.

Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said these initiatives, under the Petronas corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, are in line with the Sarawak government’s commitment to ensure all Sarawakians have access to early childhood education.

FELDA WAS USED TO RESCUE INDONESIAN CHINESE CHRISTIAN BEFORE – NOW MUST GO BACK TO RESCUE MALAYS

FELDA schemes lifted about 122,000 families – the equivalent of over 1 million people, out of poverty. It helped a generation of landless Malays become a rural middle-class, who typically held four hectares of land for oil palm or rubber cultivation.

Because of this, FELDA was considered one of the most successful land settlement organisations in the world. We must re-claim this.

Sabah not reaching its fullest potential thanks to weak leadership!

Sabah – a bountiful country full of pristine natural resources, if administered properly, will be able to yield immense economic benefits for Sabahans.

However, the new Sabah government is doing the exact opposite. It has been more than 10 months since Sabah voted for change, questionably yet to be delivered. Economically, the state is doing badly with unemployment rising and stagnant economic growth.

Another milestone for Sabah forest industry

KOTA KINABALU: Sixteen delegates from University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) on March 27-30 made a field visit to the Segaliud Lokan Forest Reserve FMU 19B to kick start a research project under the memorandum of agreement  signed on 16th August 2018.

This marked yet another milestone for the forest industry in Sabah in the area of innovative collaboration between the two main players of the industry – University Malaysia Sabah and KTS Plantation Sdn Bhd respectively.

Sabah minister taken to task for dam go-ahead

KOTA KINABALU: A grassroots movement has voiced dismay over the state government’s green light for the proposed Papar Dam although the necessary environmental impact assessment reports had yet to be completed.

Diana Sipail of Takad (Task Force Against Kaiduan Dam) questioned why Sabah Infrastructure Development Minister Peter Anthony had announced the go-ahead when it was clear the community’s input had yet to be taken into consideration.
